Fujifilm Finepix f700 Digital Camera

The Fujifilm Finepix F700 has proved to be a very successful digital camera. It has 3 M pixels which with interpolation can record a still image of 6 M pixels. It has a 3x optical zoom lens.

It has a whole host of features that will appeal to photographers who are looking for a camera that is easy to carry around, but still has enough control for you to take the type of images that you want to. Therefore I would say that the Fujifilm Finepix F700 is more suited to someone with a good understanding of the basics of photography rather than somebody who is looking for a camera that they can take out of the box and start taking snaps.

Features

The Fujfilm FinePix S20 Pro has a 3.1 megapixel CCD that delivers more than 6.03 million recorded pixels. There are 4 image sizes available (2832 x 2128, 2048 x 1536, 1600 x 1200, 1280 x 960), which can be recorded as JPEGs or in the RAW format. The camera features a Super EBC Fujinon 6X optical zoom lens that is equivalent to a 35–210mm lens on a 35mm format camera. The xD-Picture Card and Microdrive memory card formats are supported via 2 different card slots (some CompactFlash cards can be used in the Microdrive slot).

This camera offers a full range of selectable exposure modes, with Programmed AE, Aperture Priority AE, Shutter Priority AE and Manual, as well as a number of scene modes (Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Night Scene). The Fujfilm FinePix S20 Pro has 3 exposure metering modes (64-zone TTL metering - multi, spot, average) and there are 3 different types of focusing available (TTL–contrast type, Auto focus, Manual focus). The aperture range is f2.8 – f11 and the shutter speed range is 30 sec. – 1/10000 sec in Manual mode. There are 2 macro modes available - Macro, which allows you to shoot approximately 10cm – 80cms away from your subject, and Super Macro, which allows you to shoot approximately 1cm – 20cms away.

ISO speeds range from 160 to 1600. Unfortunately 160 is only available in Auto mode and 1600 is only available when the camera is set to record 1M files, and not for the larger image sizes. There are 10 different White Balance settings to choose from.

The Fujfilm FinePix S20 Pro has a continuous shooting mode with various options. Top 10 allows you to take 4.5 frames/sec. up to 10 frames and keep the first 10 frames of the sequence. Final 10 allows you to take 4.5 frames/sec. up to 10 frames and keep the last 10 frames of the sequence. Long-period continuous takes up to 40 shots at up to 1 frame per second, but only using the 1M file quality setting. The The Fujfilm FinePix S20 Pro features a self-timer which can be set to either a 2 or 10 second delay.

The built-in flash offers a range of different modes; Auto, Red-eye Reduction, Forced Flash, Suppressed Flash, Slow Synchro, Red-eye Reduction & Slow Synchro. The effective range at the wide angle lens setting is: 0.3m to 8.5m, and at the telephoto setting 0.9m to 7.9m. If the built-in flash doesn't meet your needs, there is a non–dedicated hot–shoe and a
PC sync socket for connection to studio and external flash systems.

The Fujfilm FinePix S20 Pro Zoom has a traditional threaded cable release socket which avoids the expense of having to use a proprietary cable release. It also sports both USB 2.0 and Firewire connections, allowing rapid transfer of images from camera to PC. Like most recent digital cameras the Fujfilm FinePix S20 Pro Zoom is PictBridge compatible.

To compose your images, you can use the LCD monitor or the electronic viewfinder. The Fujfilm FinePix S20 Pro has a 1.8 inch colour TFT LCD monitor which has 118,000 pixels. The electronic viewfinder is .44 inches in size, has 235,000 pixels and features built-in dioptre adjustment. The camera is powered by 4 x AA size alkaline batteries or 4 x Ni-MH rechargeable batteries.

The Fujfilm FinePix S20 Pro can record movies at 2 different settings; 640x480 pixels at 30 frames per second and 320x240 pixels at 30 frames per second. Both settings are recorded in the Motion JPEG format, a type of AVI format that can handle images and sound as a single file, and can be played back by QuickTime 3 or later. As well as recording movies with sound, the Fujfilm FinePix S20 Pro also doubles up as a voice recorder, allowing you to record 30-second long voice memos in the WAV format.

The camera's dimensions are 121mm (W) x 81.5mm (H) x 97mm (D), and it weighs approximately 500g without batteries and storage cards fitted.

Finally, the standard box kit contains a 16Mb xD-Picture Card, USB cable, Firewire (IEEE 1394) cable, AV cable, 4 x AA type alkaline batteries, shoulder strap, lens cap and holder, PC Sync socket cap, manuals, a CD-ROM containing various software and the HS-V2 Hyper Utility Software (worth £149.99). This is a a new software tool that enables you to fine-tune aspects of a image such as sharpness, colour balance, and the full extent of the camera's dynamic range. You will need to invest in a few more xD-Picture Cards to store your images on, as the supplied 16Mb can only store approximately 5 images at the default 6M Fine file quality setting. You will also have to budget for some rechargeable batteries and a recharger, as the supplied alkaline batteries don't last very long.

Fujifilm FinePix S3500 Review
by : cameras.co.uk

Image Quality
Overall the outdoor shots that the Finepix 3500 were good without being anything out of the ordinary. One weakness that I found was that the camera struggled when there was sharp contrast in the shot. An example of this can be found in the Outdoor 1 and 2 shots. The area to look out for is in the trees and bushes. They tend to come out darker than I would like to see and this leads to a loss of detail especially in a final print.

Digital cameras find indoor shots more difficult. The Finepix S3500 sits somewhere in the middle rank when it comes to indoor shots. You should be able to produce acceptable indoor shots with this camera.

The colour reproduction was passed. It reproduces red, yellows and blues well. One colour where I though it could do better was on greens.

The Finepix S3500 scored above average marks for macro or close up photography. Digital cameras can add a tint to the image when working close up. This camera produced a clear image with true colours.

Features
The camera has a 1.5" LCD screen for composing and reviewing images as well as accessing the menus. The LCD screen has a brightness control plus a feature that brightens the screen in lowlight. This does make a considerable difference in twilight, but when the light is very low it has little effect.

The Finepix S3500 has a pop up flash unit that has a range of 3.5m. The flash modes available are automatic where the camera decides if flash is required, always on, always off, red eye reduction, slow synchro and slow synchro with red eye reduction. You can also adjust the brightness of the flash. This is useful for when you are using fill in flash. This is where you are looking for the camera to fill in shadows rather than give a bright blast of light.

Taking a step up from simply placing the Finepix S3500 in automatic mode you can use scene modes. There are four available and their role is to help you to take the best possible picture in challenging lighting and composition situations. The four are portrait, landscape, sports and night shots.

For close up work there is a macro mode that lets you get in as close as 10cms from the subject.

When you would like to appear in the picture yourself there is a self timer with a ten second delay.

A further step up offers a semi manual mode for wont of a better description. By setting the camera in this mode you can use features such as exposure compensation, white balance and aperture priority. You can also adjust the sharpness of each image.

Movies can be shot by the Finepix S3500, but they are limited. There are two resolutions you can choose from 320x240 and 160x120. In either resolution footage is captured at a rate of 10 frames per second.

Fuji supply all the necessary cables and software to connect the Finepix S3500 to a computer and a television set.

To further enhance the camera you can buy separately a wide angle and a telephoto lens adapter.

Ease of Use
Aside from its extended zoom lens I would say that the Finepix S3500 also scores very highly for ease of use. I have always like the colour coded Fuji menu systems and I find them less intimidating than any other brand. I will admit that this camera offers less features than some of its competitors, but this upside of this is that it gives you a camera that is a lot easier to get started with.

Fujifilm FinePix S5500 Product Information
16MB, 10x Optical Zoom, 3x Digital Zoom, 4.2 MPixel, xD Slot, Video, 1.5" LCD - Bundle Fuji xD Card 128MB + Soft Case

Fujifilm FinePix S5500 Overview
Announced in July 2004, the Fujifilm FinePix S5500 (sold as the S5100 in some territories) is an update to the S5000 offering the same 10x (37-370mm equiv.) optical zoom, SLR-like styling, comprehensive feature set and aggressive price point. The most significant change is the replacement of the rather controversial 'Super CCD' sensor used in the S5000 with a conventional 4 megapixel CCD offering an extra million effective pixels (the S5000's SCCD sensor used 3.1 million effective pixels to produce 6MP output images). Other welcome improvements include a better movie mode, manual (custom) white balance control and improved viewfinder/LCD screen coverage.
- 10X optical zoom lens (37 – 370mm, 35mm equivalent)
- Multiple exposure modes, including Aperture priority, Shutter priority and Manual modes
- CCD–RAW format enabling unprocessed file saving
- Wide range of ISO settings available (64–400) for photography in a wide range of situations
- High Quality Movie capture (640 x 480 pixel) movie mode at 30 frames per second

Fujifilm FinePix S5500 Review
by : photographyblog.com
The Fujifilm FinePix S5500 Zoom is the successor to the 3 megapixel Fujifilm FinePix S5000 Zoom that I reviewed back in June 2004. The Finepix S5500 looks very much like a traditional SLR camera in terms of styling, but it is actually more like a compact digital camera in size and weight. Despite its diminutive dimensions, the Fujifilm FinePix S5500 Zoom sports a massive 10x optical zoom which is equivalent to 37-370mm on a 35mm camera. The Finepix S5500 has a number of improvements when compared to its predecessor, including a 4 megapixel sensor, histogram playback, custom white balance control, 100% frame coverage and higher quality video mode. Have Fujifilm added enough improvements to the Finepix S5500 Zoom so that it can still remain competitive today? Find out in my review.

Fujifilm FinePix S9500 Product Information
16MB, 10.7x Optical Zoom, 2x Digital Zoom, 9 MPixel, xD /MD Slot, Video, 1.8" LCD

Fujifilm FinePix S9500 Overview
Unlike many digital cameras, you won't want to separate this camera from its lens. Covering the crucial 28-300mm* range, and crafted from the highest standard Fujinon optics, this is a built-in lens that has been engineered to work perfectly with the camera's sensor technology. And the sensor technology is just as advanced – a nine million effective pixel Super CCD and Real Photo Processor combination that not only delivers on detail, but also the major image quality milestones: colour, low noise, dynamic range and sensitivity.
- Integrated Design allows you to do many things that you can't with a digital SLR. For instance, using the LCD to compose your image, rather than having to lift the camera to cover your eye.
- Super CCD technology has long been associated with class-leading performance in top-end digital cameras. Unlike generic image sensors, this system is developed and manufactured entirely in-house, and is performance only available from Fujifilm.
- Superior Fujinon 28 - 300 mm Lens
- Tilting 1.8" LCD monitor
- Fast Response, there is no agonising wait as a motor extends the lens (it is already in position)

Fujifilm FinePix S9500 Review
by: dcresource.com

The Fuji FinePix S9000 ($699) is a full-featured, high resolution ultra zoom 9 Megapixel camera. The S9000 (also known as the S9500) uses Fuji's 5th generation SuperCCD sensor, with the most noticeable change since the previous generation sensor being the lack of an interpolated mode. The sensor is nine Megapixel and so are the resulting images. (For the technically included, the sensor still does interpolate to a higher resolution before downsizing to your selected size.)

The S9000 uses Fuji's Real Photo Technology which allows for lower noise at high ISOs than comparable cameras, fast performance, and good battery life. Fuji says that the camera's good high ISO performance allows the S9000 to take sharp pictures without the need for image stabilization (we'll see how well it performs in a bit).

The other big feature on the S9000 is its 10.7X zoom lens. While most ultra zoom lenses are 38 - 380 mm (or similar), the S9000's lens starts at 28 mm for some good wide-angle action.

There's much more to talk about, so let's just move into the review now.

What's in the Box?

The FinePix S9000 has an average bundle. Inside the box, you'll find:

  • The 9.0 effective Megapixel FinePix S9000 camera
  • 16MB xD Picture Card
  • Four AA alkaline batteries
  • Lens cap w/retaining strap
  • Lens hood
  • Shoulder strap
  • A/V cable
  • USB cable
  • CD-ROM featuring FinePix CX software
  • 143 page camera manual (printed)

The S9000 comes with a tiny 16MB xD Picture Card, which holds just three photos at the highest quality setting. That makes a larger memory card a requirement, and I'd suggest 512MB or even 1GB as good starter sizes. One of the nice features of the S9000 is its dual memory card slots, support both xD and CompactFlash cards. The CF slot supports Type II cards, including the Microdrive. Since CompactFlash cards are cheaper and generally faster than xD cards, I'd recommend sticking with those. The S9000 takes advantage of high speed CompactFlash cards, and probably the "M-type" fast xD cards as well.
